We opened in our original location in September 2005. My mom had been driving home from work one day and saw a "For Lease" sign in the window and decided to check into it. She had always wanted to have a little quilt shop and felt that this was a sign. At the time she just wanted a place to escape from her other full time business. I don't think she had any idea it would become as big as it has.
In January 2008 we announced that we would be moving into a brand new building across the street. It was supposed to be ready in the Spring, but it turned out that the majority of the construction didn't begin until May. With our Christmas orders already placed, we were getting a bit worried that we wouldn't be in the new location before the Holiday season. Customers anxiously awaited our move and many of them offered to help. Everyone was wondering how we would do it.
We opened in the new location the day after Thanksgiving. We had one week to move in. Since there was no way we could possibly have the "look" we had at the other store in just a week, there were many times where we worked through the night.
Shortly after we moved in, Oregon was hit with the worst snow storm in years! Knowing that we still had so much from the original shop to move over, this wasn't exactly welcome...but it sure was beautiful. With each season we try to change up the entrance to the store. Our displays take hours of details. In fact, since my mom (Jan) has already placed her Christmas fabric orders, I have started thinking of the layout for the 2009 holiday season!
